phase 3 of painting: COLOR!

What a weekend! We have color and it is really starting to look like a home! As always, my thanks come first. Thank you to Aunt J., Uncle D., Aunt M., Friends Jenna and M., and the parentals. We got so much done this weekend and I have all of you to thank!

The steel columns in the basement were installed and the floors are now better supported. Thank you Joel for welding one of the columns and delivering it! The second soffit in the kitchen was finished and the remaining drywall was hung; we are now ready for the taper to come this week.

Our biggest project this weekend was painting. The living room, dining room, and part of the staircase is painted the tan I picked out. I was so thrilled to see the color on Saturday, it was exactly what I wanted.

The woodwork around the windows was also painted by Aunt M. on the main level. Kudos for her-she went to town and it looks awesome!! I am thrilled with the off white I picked for that, too.

I have always wanted a red wall, and now I have two! We painted one in the living room and the one diagonal from it in the dining room. It looked brighter than I had hoped, but I will have to check it out later this week after it dries to see if it darkens. It definitely needs more than a couple of coats (but I knew that beforehand).

My bedroom painting was finished-one dark steel blue wall and three dark lighter blue walls. The closet was painted by Jenna! The only thing remaining in there is the wood trim and installing the ceiling light fixture. I am happy with the color choices in there as well.

The ceiling light fixture and light switch in the purple room is done-and that is the only thing that has been accomplished in that room besides the finished floors and new window! The office is now ready to prime and paint since the cracks have been filled in!

Lastly, we cleared out the kitchen and dad ripped up a very small section of the floor to see how it would come up. That is the next big project next week and then installing new pre-finished oak floors.
