looking forward to painting this weekend!

This weekend we will be putting the tan paint on the living room and dining room walls. We will also be painting the wood trim. I am currently debating blinds vs. curtains and which windows for what. My recent quote was from Budget Blinds and I was very impressed with their customer service. They were willing to come on the weekend and work around my schedule and the guy that came was in my best interest, telling me where I could save money or what wasn't necessary. Dad will be finishing up some drywall this weekend. He wants to bring in a professional taper to finish the drywall. Drywall taping consists of several visits. On the first trip, he "tapes" the joints between each board, and fills the holes where the screw heads show. The tape is installed with a coat of drywall mud (the white stuff). In one day, the mud is dry, and the guy returns to apply the second coat of mud on all the joints and screw heads. Sometimes it takes a third visit (a day later) to apply the last coat of mud on the joints. The last trip he sands down the mud and is finished. So, it might take as much as 4 visits over 4 days to be ready to paint, but when a professional is done, its nice and smooth. It would easily take me a month to achieve what they can do in 3-4 visits. Once, that is done, the kitchen will be ready to paint. I held off on getting my cabinets delivered since we would have more objects to work around and the delivery time didn't work with my schedule. So, those will be delivered April 8th. Stay tuned to see the progress we complete this week; it should definitely be noticeable :)
