Well a few more tasks were accomplished this weekend! The biggest was getting the water heater fired up and having hot water now! Aunt J., Uncle D., and Friend D. helped again on Sunday-thank you all for putting in the time again-every bit helps and it is always appreciated.
We have moved our sanding and stripping process to the upstairs woodwork. I patched holes in the walls...and for those of you who don't know, the family that lived there before loved hooks, nails, and screws in any place they could put them. I decided today that I might just need to wallpaper a couple of rooms in the future. Paint colors are decided for the downstairs, bathroom, and woodwork. The walls in the bathroom, office, and master bedroom were washed and are ready to be painted (once I figure out the rest of the colors!).
More drywall was installed in the kitchen and the hookups ready to go for the kitchen sink. Dad hooked up tubes where the bathroom sink will go so we can access cold and hot water temporarily. My new windows have arrived and will be installed on Tuesday-3 weeks early! I have decided to go with pre-finished oak floors for the kitchen and we will be ripping out the old flooring there soon. I also ordered a steel door for the entrance from the driveway into the basement.
Last week, I had an energy audit performed by MidAmerican. We all know how "green" I like to be :) This is a free service from them and the gentleman put in a new digital thermostat, gave me CFL bulbs, a shower head, and information on getting rebates for my insulation.
The latest squirrel news: We had a third squirrel...it was the black one that my dad saw a couple of weeks ago. He was caught last week and was not in good shape. He was bleeding and a little frantic-he had been without food & water for over a week since we had closed him in. He may have been bleeding from squeezing in, or, more likely from trying to get out through the metal. He was released at the Eastern disc golf park late one night and scampered up a tree. I wish him the best and hope he can recover! As much as I am glad he is out of my attic, I felt bad for the little guy and his injuries.
