Another successful weekend :) My parents worked hard again (THANKS!!!) and Aunt J. and Uncle D. helped a lot too. T. also stopped by on Sunday just to help dad carry up a bunch of plywood into the attic. Thank you all! Also, Aunt J. brought us chili on Saturday which was delicious! Thanks again~
The new windows were installed last week by Suburban windows and look great. We have already been opening them to let out fumes from our wood stripping and to get 30 2X6 boards from outside to upstairs and into the attic. The steps have been stripped and they look beautiful! They will still need to be sanded but we are waiting until after the floors are finished off this week. Many of the doors and baseboards were sanded and the downstairs will be ready to paint (trim included) once it is washed! All of the wiring in the kitchen is completed except for the lights, too.
The plaster in the bathroom was taken down on one wall and drywall brought up the stairs. Electrical is nearly finished in the bathroom too. More drywall was put in the kitchen on the east wall-and that is almost completely finished. Sunday night, I purchased the prefinished oak flooring for the kitchen floor. Hopefully, we can put that in during the next couple of weeks. Jim Barrows will be sanding and finishing my floors throughout the house this week.
Cabinets are picked out and finalized. I will be getting them from Green Valley Cabinets in Moline. Dad drew up the sketches for exactly what I needed! I am only deciding on if I want three or four drawers, then I can order those this week. I will also be receiving a price quote for counter tops from there-I am pricing laminate Formica and Corian solid surface.
The pictures posted document our progress and show some of my new windows with a picture of two of the old windows in the dining room.
