delayed...

Sorry for the delayed post! We finally stayed at my house for the first time this past weekend AND had my first house guests! We did some work on the house on Sunday--so thanks mom and dad for coming over!

The unpacking is mostly finished, minus a couple of pots and pans since we are going to tinker with the pot rack. I was able to go through my kitchen stuff and get rid of duplicate items as well. I am still arranging my kitchen cabinets to be used more efficiently!

I also have stuff to unpack in my office. Most of my belongings from my parents' house are nestled here but there are a few items remaining. It is amazing and a bit pathetic that I have enough stuff to fill a three bedroom house...

Sunday, mom painted the columns and post at the bottom of the stairs. I think we got lucky with getting away with one finished coat on the columns. I also painted the kitchen woodwork that was hung the night before.

Dad got the bathroom electrical on-that includes two lights and the fan. The bathroom sink is hooked up and working and we found out the bath tub actually does work. I will be taking a bath for now instead of showering because we have to tile the top of the shower and walls. The chair rail in the bathroom is also up with only small sections missing.

Last week, dad sketched the front of the house of what the porch will look when it is finished. It will look marvelous with three columns and side rails! I am also looking at paint colors for the front door-a burgundy-but you won't really be able to see it because of the security door. That door has been prepped to paint once a color is determined.

We am still moving some furniture around in the living room and dining room. We just cannot find a perfect layout yet for some of my big items.

I painted some bathroom shelves and will finish those this weekend and dad painted the inside of the back door to match the downstairs woodwork.

The office closet doors were hung and are able to slide. I purchased glass blocks for two of the basement windows to be replaced sometime this summer.

I started staying there the middle of this week and have had no problems yet--except missing cable. But I have plenty of movies to keep me occupied for awhile! This weekend, I am thinking I will do some paint touch ups and hopefully the electrical work can be the focus.
