Another successful and long weekend! First, my thanks: big thanks to my Aunt and Uncle for helping out Saturday. We loaded the dumpster by lunch and even got some basement paneling ripped out along with accomplishing other small tasks. Another thanks to my Uncle J. for helping us with hauling supplies on Sunday in his truck. As always-thanks to my parents and my brother who came home for another hard working weekend!
Besides getting all of the old stuff in the dumpster, we also got the small kitchen wall knocked out-that opened up the kitchen a lot! Insulation has been installed in most of the kitchen and the vinyl floors ripped up. The wood floors underneath were in really bad shape; I don't know yet if we can salvage them. My brother also accidently broke a window when he was ripping off the last of the lath in the kitchen, but that will be replaced anyways. More plumbing was completed and is almost in working order! Mom and I started stripping wood to see if we can lighten some of it up or decide to paint it from there. The first door was fun to do and then it was downhill from there. Oh yea, and we also got some new windows ordered :) and security doors were picked up but yet to be installed.
Problem: I have roommates that need to stay out...squirrels-and they are huge! I knew they have been there before, but I haven't seen them yet. There was a broken window in my walk up attic and I thought they got in through there, but we had that fixed and I figured it kept them out since I never saw one. But, I was showing my aunt the attic and found two squirrels frolicking around up there. We went up later and figured out where they were coming in-and covered it with wood. I hope that was the only spot because those critters were big and I want them out for good!
