outdoor progress (and some indoor!)

The porch sure is coming along! I finally found a mailbox (apparently, white is not common) and some new address numbers. I may end up painting those white too, but for now they are black. Anything is better than the gawdy gold ones up there now with a different size 0 or it might even be an "O."

While dad and Nate were working on the porch, mom and I were painting the ceiling in the purple room. During the week last week, I also got the closet primed with Kilz. I did a couple ceiling touch ups in my bedroom and bathroom too. Mom then took off some baseboard in the purple room--which had the function of quarter-round because there was already larger baseboard up there. The stuff was cheap plastic wood stuff that broke easily enough for me to put into my garbage can. I think we also decided to take the purple baseboards and most of the woodwork down in order to put up new. That paint was so awful to strip before on other stuff, we would rather save time and energy to put up new stuff.

Nate also took out some LARGE stones in my front yard (which I assume were used for an itty bitty patio at one point). Who knows, but they had bolts in the bottom of them and it took Nate and I to carry those suckers to the back.

Then, I was left with a large hole in my front yard....which I joked saying I could put a gravestone there for the night since it was Halloween and trick-or-treating. However, I had to work anyway, so we filled it with dirt. My neighbor who is fixing up the duplex down the street also stopped by and gave us some left over sod--which was awesome and we made it work to put over the hole.

We then had outdoor painting to do. Mom painted/stained the back steps with the stuff we bought for the front porch floor. I painted the front stained glass window, which my mom started doing the week before.
