what's been happening at my house? let me show you...

Look at all of this progress! As always, thank you mom, dad, and Nate for the hours put in! I will now explain the pictures.

The top picture shows the purple room with the entry door off the hinges and another door next to it. Well, this door was an extra we stripped and sanded from the kitchen--it originally closed off the kitchen from the living room. It will be put in place for the purple room entry and will be painted eventually (the sizes are very similar). The paint in the purple room is so awful, we want to do as little stripping as possible, even if it means purchasing new woodwork for that room.

The next pictures are of the laundry chute doors painted and where the chute door will go in the bathroom. I will not be using the chute, as of now, because it fits a pair of socks and skivvies down it. Jeans would get stuck, without a doubt. Must be meant for smaller clothes of the people that used to live here decades ago. I would like to close the chute off and make a shelf in the future but who knows. The outdoor of the door is actually installed now, we had to mud the wall next to it and I painted it yellow.

The front porch with all of the railings, sans siding. It was waaaay to cold last weekend to do siding. We did hang a couple pieces of drywall on the ceiling of the porch on Sunday though.

The stairs--you probably thought those were done. Well, they were, but when we had them covered up for awhile and when we uncovered them we noticed the tape peeled off some polyurethane. So, mom and I sanded the spots (mostly on the sides of the steps but some didn't have any spots) and stained them again. While I was on a mini vacation, mom and dad came in one night and polyurethaned again since no one would be walking up and down them!

Under cabinet lights in the kitchen on both sides of the sink are hot. We also purchased a single light for next to my stove under a narrow cabinet and I think I would like to purchase some for under the cabinet directly above the sink. They come in handy to leave on at night without lighting up the whole kitchen.

The stair spindles were scraped of excess paint drips and chips and are now hung to be painted. Dad did this same set up when they did the ones at their house 25 plus years ago and liked how it went. You can paint all four sides instead of painting two at a time laying down. I also purchased the paint for those which will be my downstairs woodwork color but in latex because they were already painted in latex by the previous owner.

My laundry center has a fluorescent light above it, which helps a lot at night! We couldn't get it hot the weekend before but of course, dad can fix anything and got it working :)

Lastly, I painted the walls above the stairway that mostly needed large touch ups. I now have to touch up the ceiling!
