Ok, sorry for the backwards sequence of pictures. Thanks dad, mom, and Nate for putting in hours this weekend :)
What did we accomplish? Well, we got a dumpster last minute on Friday (after reminding someone to order it...) and started loading up debris on Saturday morning in the drizzle. We had a bunch of boards from the first part of taking apart the porch-the frames of the windows and the siding. The bricks from the roof chimney were also thrown in there. I can see my back yard and side of my garage again!
After we put that in-organized of course to fit the most that we could-demolition started on the porch flooring. While the guys did that, mom and I picked up the many bricks, cinder blocks, and other rocks that were hidden under the porch and throwing it in the dumpster. There has been so much garbage under there from the previous owner, so I was dying to get it out. There were lots of pieces of old copper pipe (looked like a sewer pipe), an entire large cardboard box, a few gardening pots, batteries, a steak knife, and other trash.
After that was completed and after our lunch break, we moved to the attic chimney. That needed to be taken down as I have mentioned in a previous post when they took the outside chimney on the roof apart. We did an assembly line of dad breaking the bricks and mortar apart and handing them to mom, who handed them to me in buckets and I carried them down the steps to Nate who threw them out the office window and into the dumpster in my drive way. Convenient, don't you think? Glad we didn't have to carry them down more stairs!
Supplies and lumber have been ordered for my new porch and the siding :) We are waiting on a building permit from the city because I got in trouble-oops. I'm innocent, I swear! ;) Any who, they were giving us the run around and making us submit sketches, get a structural engineer's approval, etc. We finally have that figured out, but we have to dig two more holes and pour two more cement footings.
