moving on with the porch

Well, we can finally move on with the porch as planned, but we were put behind (as usual). I did get the building permit from the city last week after picking up some drawings from a structural engineer. I now have a bright orange sticker on my front door.

Dad was nervous about getting the drawings from the engineer because he thought we would be told to dig up the three cement footings we already poured. Luckily, we only have to add two more and this is what has put us behind. I keep trying to see the positive in that we are not undoing what we already did, and merely adding to it instead. So, last night two more holes were dug by dad, mom, and Nate. We now need to get the holes inspected before we can pour concrete.

We are hoping to get the inspection done tomorrow, columns poured after that, and start porch building Saturday! We got most of the supplies delivered last week but Menards was out of some of the wood we needed and will be delivering that soon. Stay tuned...
