good things are happening!

Looking more like a home!

Kitchen baseboards installed and quarter round on another wall.

Nearly finished laundry area...

Still down to the nitty gritty details but, nonetheless, progress!! This past weekend I painted quarter round for the downstairs since we used what we had in the living room. Also in the living room, one of the columns got two new outlets to replace the old ones--which were a mess and one didn't even work before.

The kitchen's baseboards are all put up except for one small piece. Dad actually had to miter the boards to about half the size they were previously. Originally, we purchased taller baseboards to match the others throughout the house--but we didn't take that into account when designing the cabinets so we had to change the height of them. Still looks marvelous~

The laundry area is nearly finished. Dad put up fiberglass reinforced panel so I can splash against it in the sink and can be a backdrop behind the washer and dryer that is more durable than drywall if it got wet. My new dryer gets delivered and (hopefully) installed tomorrow but the gas hook ups and everything else is ready to go! Yay for not having to depend on mom and dad for laundry still... Also, thanks Jon for helping out with transporting the FRP, other supplies, and scaffolding. The scaffolding will be used to get up to my attic windows when tearing out the chimney that is of no use.

While I had the paint cans out, I also painted some door trim that is replacing two split pieces upstairs and primed the laundry chute door that belongs in the bathroom. We put up a glass shelf in my bathroom to put odds and ends on and finished installing the rest of the chair rail on the wall in there. It needs to be caulked now in some spots.

A storm door was purchased for the door entryway from my driveway. Nothing fancy since I already have a steel door there and don't need added security. The interior is looking more like a home with more of my stuff being organized, put away, and pictures/artwork and shelves being hung. Check out the painting on the wall done by my talented brother!

One struggle we had this past weekend--my garage door is falling apart. My garage is nothing special and has a raggedy old door that needs to be manually lifted-this is why I don't use it right now. We use it for storage...and the panels started to fall out as we lowered it. We have yet to figure out what to do with that since it wasn't on our priority list.
